The Workshop/Retallack MOT centre
The Workshop/Retallack MOT centre is a family business started by Jules in 2012. Jules had first started working in the motor trade as a 15 year old in his older brother's garage, carrying out mechanical and bodywork duties. Jules spent most of his working life working for himself or assisting other garages, he also had another garage, petrol station and MOT bay previously. In 2012 Jules moved to Retallack just outside St Columb and started The Workshop. A lot of the work carried out was more bespoke work on camper vans including conversions, but also general servicing, repairs and diagnostics.
2021
In 2021 Jules was considering starting to take things a little slower and had discussions with his son Mike about taking over, Mike had spent the previous ten years working for a Peugeot main dealer in car sales and wanted to take a different direction work wise. An agreement was struck and Mike handed in his notice.
Mike and Jules made their first appointment in 2021 taking on a full time mechanic as the Workshop started taking a different direction veering away from the camper van side.
2023
In 2023 Mike and Jules opened a new MOT centre and Retallack MOT centre was born, new members were needed to help run the MOT centre and the Workshop, as the staff numbers swelled to five members. Over the years Jules daughter Toni has worked for the Workshop, as well as his niece Paige and of course his son Mike, whilst not forgetting Jules wife Anne and Mikes wife Alannah. Where would the boys be without them.
The Workshop/Retallack MOT Centre is located just outside St Columb by the Retallack resort and spa. We carry out work on cars and Vans up to 3.5T, we can sometimes be restricted by height and length with regards to vans, so its always best to ring ahead and check. MOT wise we can MOT class four, which is cars, camper vans (again, subject to size) and vans up to 3T.
The Workshop like to use local companies where possible and are proud to work with other local garages and share resources.
